Recommended list of tools:
- High quality 1.3mm hex driver. The included allen key is more damaging than helpful as it tends to round out the screw hex. I use an MIP driver which is a much more snug fit.
- 1.5mm hex driver, I have found the included allen key to be sufficient
- 4mm Nut driver. Used on the wheel nuts, ball studs, and spur gear nut.
- Needle nose pliers. Particularly useful for snapping suspension links onto ball studs
- Precision Tweezers. Useful for holding onto the teeny tiny screws.
THE INCLUDED BATTERY CHARGER IS A FIRE HAZARD. There have been plenty of reported incidents of the included charger failing to balnce cells, leading to overcharging and undercharging the included LiPo batteries which at best kills the battery, and at worst starts a lithium fire. It is hard to believe a company as large as Horizon Hobby/Losi would include something so prone to failure but we live in the age of profits > everything. I like this charger, it allows for charging 4 2s batteries at once up to 1.5A and displays the individual cell voltage so you can better keep tabs on battery health.
The new generation of Losi Micros come with oil-filled dampers which is a welcome upgrade over the original generation's undamped suspension. However I have found that in the box configuration they become inconsistent, sticky, and unresponsive after a few minutes of driving. After a lot of messing around with oil weights and greases I figured out what has worked best for me.
- In the lower shock cap there are two ultra soft o-rings separated by a plastic spacer.
- This spacer's job is to provide more support to the shock shaft and compress the o-rings for a tighter seal. In practice, they compress the o-rings too much which results in resistance and inconsistency.
- My solution has been to simply remove this spacer and pack the lower cap and o-rings with Green Slime.
- As for shock weight I am of the opinion that lighter shock oil suits micro RCs well since their suspension moves fast relative to larger RCs. That being said something around 20wt seems to work, with a slightly heavier oil in front.
In addition to the Steering Rate knob on the included Spektrum Transmitter, the user is able to also adjust the Left and Right end points independently. This is the process to set these end points:

2.
3.
